What is this all about?
There are many guilds on the World of Warcraft European Shadowsong server, which are currently unable to play high endgame content, simply because they dont have enough members, correct classes, or perhaps even different reasons. Taking on places (pre-TBC) like Molten Core or worldbosses like Kazzak required a lot of time (teamwork, dedication and practice). So, a few people who were unwilling to give up their (usually family style) guilds but still wanted to play high endgame content formed this group, or MCO Raid Alliance.
Because we group with regular members both in normal endgame, and massive endgame instances, we are not a random pickup group. We have regular scheduled raids with in-game notification, dedicated class leaders amongst our members and we use a DKP system for loot distribution. We work pretty much like a raiding guild would, with the exception that we are not in the same guild. Although we do ask of you to consider joining MCO guild for all the reasons you'd normally join one.
Basically, we want to build a fierce, strong and enthousiastic group, which will be able to strike down upon any high endgame content that Blizzard bestows upon our path. :D
Sounds cool! Can I join your group?
We are currently looking for new members as we're busy reorganising ourselves to prepare for the future content.
Not everyone is suitable for membership. You have to understand what we will ask of you before you are able to join us. If you just want to join some raids, hoping for some epic loot, then forget about it. First of all, the DKP loot system makes sure that the most active and involved people get a chance to bid on loot first, so chances are you wont get anything during your first runs. But you gain DKP for your time spent in our raids, so your time is not lost at all.
If you don't care about loot, but just want to join for fun, practise or training, or maybe just to see what it's like to raid with 9 to 24 people, then this is not the place for you either. We need regular members, because the things we do require lot of practice for everyone in the raid. Practise, patience and a lot of sacrifices.
Keep in mind that on most runs you will have to pay a lot for repairs, potions, reagents, poisions, arrows, bullets, bandages and whatnot. You will have to pay for these yourself as it's impossbile for us to generate enough money as a raiding alliance to keep everyone supplied. It is your responsibility to come prepared to our raids. Once again - do you just want to farm epics? Then look elsewhere. Conquering the challenges Blizzard has made for us it what we aim for.
Hmmm.. What class/race/build characters are you looking for?
Currently we don't specify those. We have a very open view on what talents you specced in. We rather look for people with proper spirit and motivation and able to do what we ask of them. If you are really curious about the endgame content, if you want to beat all those famed beasts and gods, if you wont give up after 10th wipe, then you are the kind of the person we will gladly welcome.
Okay, well.. What about the loot? Whats DKP?
We are using a DKP system for distributing any loot that drops from our kills during the raids. All the reagents/patterns that drop in raid-instances goes to the alliance bank. We have a system in place now which allows you to get/buy materials from the bank for a certain amount of DKP. You can sign up for an item you want and so make, or have it made, an item which suits your current gear and helps us advance as a group.
Dragon Kill Points (historical name) are the points which our members receive during raids. The members can then spends their points on drops we get. The basic idea is to give people, who have already raided more than you, already have a chance on an advantage when sorting out loot. This of course means that you won't get anything on your first runs, because you'll have no points to compete with other members. However, you will catch up pretty quick if you join our raids, because people with many points will buy items, and you will eventually have the most points - and then you can offer them for something you really want.
So it doesn't mean that members before you will always get an advantage during looting. They will only get advantage for your first runs. Or, perhaps nobody else wants it and you can get it cheap. All you have to know about the system for now, is that we are using it. The exact same system is used by many guilds in many different MMORPGs, so its works well and it is fair. The rules are explained in the member section of our forum. If the DKP and loot distribution is a problem for you, then we are not the team for you.
Additional: We gather all BoE drops from raid-instances and put them in the bank. Materials for specific raid-purposes are given to members on request, the rest is used to generate gold and every month we distribute the earnings and materials from the bank back to the members.
Fair enough. When/where/what do you raid?
Right now, we raid 3 times a week. In gametime: Tuesdays from 19:30 - 00:00, Thursdays from 19:30 - 00:00 and Sunday 18.30 - 00:00. With extra raids on non-raid days.
You dont have to come to all raids, and you don't have to stay the entire raid time. You do have to clearly state when and how long you are coming. We will post a topic in the Run Scheduling forum for each raid. All you have to do is leave a message in the topic if you plan to show up, and for how long you will be there.
The schedule can change of course, but it seems to work fine for now. Because of the regular days, you will still have enough time to do stuff on your own or with your guild. But, everything depends on how much time members can spend on MCO raids. We expect people to show up at least once a week on a regular basis.
What do you expect from me?
We expect you to follow the guidelines we have for our raids. From new people we expect a lot of attention and the will to learn, so they will quickly catch up. There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers, so do not hesitate to ask your class leader what to do.
We expect you to be with us on the raids when they are planned and you are in the game - we don't want to hear "oh sorry im grinding, cant come". All the runs are scheduled and planned ahead, so you have plenty of time to do other stuff.
We expect you to be on time. We don't like people being late because they have to finish other runs; this delays the raid far too much. The runs are scheduled. Organize your time properly. If you plan to show up later, post it in the forum so we can schedule it. We like you to be online and available for inviting 20-30 minutes before the raid starts. This ensures proper group setup.
We expect you to behave properly. This means that we won't tolerate harrassment, pessimism, childish behaviour et cetera. Be an adult, or act like one. Keep in mind that we're all humans behind this virtual world. Do not inflate your ego just because you raid with us; yes its cool to do it but no it doesnt make you better than anyone else.
What we need the most is a bit of commitment to the group. Some of us are working hard to make this thing going, so we would like you help us make it right.
One last thing. My guild is going to raid soon, can I get some practice with you, or join when we aren't raiding?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: We are trying to build a raiding team made of small guilds. If you are in a raiding guild, you will be with two raiding groups. This is technically impossible because Blizzard saves you in raid instances.
Besides the technical problem, we hope to have members with us for weeks/months. Mastering high endgame content is hard work, and we need a regular team for that. If you are going to raid MC and other places with your guild soon (or if you are doing that already) then you are defeating the point of our group. We are not about forming a raid guild, though it's preferred you join MCO guild. We are all about forming a raid alliance for guilds that can't. And last but not least, you won't have enough time. You need to live too
There is an MCO guild and we strive for as many people as possible to join that guild. One of our objectives is to create a tight-knit group and so MCO guild was born. We'd like you to join our guild so that we enjoy your mirth in the /g channel and of course you'd have all the regular advantages of a guild as well.
I'm born ready! Where do I sign?
Do you still want to join after all that you have just read? Then read the Recruitment section of this forum for information about how you can apply to us!
There is no point in making an account before you contact us ingame, because it requires activation from our end.
Thanks for your time,
